Here’s an activity I’ve written for a class this week – fuller instructions to follow later. It’s for a lesson in four stages:
- A grouping activity. Students get one cryptic clue card each and follow the clues to make four groups – themed around presents, trees, turkeys and snowmen.
- Give each group a few copies of one of the worksheets A-D. Students in the group work together to write questions to find out the missing information on the right side of the page. They could optionally cut these out as strips of paper and divide them among the group.
- Give out the information sheets A-D, one to each student. They read these in their groups. The information won’t help them to answer their own questions but it will be useful to other groups.
- The class then mingle, meeting members of other groups and asking their questions. When they find out the missing information, they can complete their worksheet.
Suitable for any age, and especially for classes of 16-20 students working offline.
