4. More Vocabulary – Describing effects on the body

a. Here’s a quotation from the video. Can you find some words that the narrator uses to say that a chemical could have a negative effect on the body?

When a 1969 study found that injecting mice with MSG caused severe damage to their retina and brain, some news outlets jumped to proclaim that eating MSG could cause brain damage. Similarly, while some studies reported that excess glutamate could lead to problems like Alzheimers, these conditions were later found to be caused by internal glutamate imbalances.
