HOW TO EXPLAIN THINGS (B2-C1 Lesson)

7. Explain a concept

For the final part of this lesson, you have the opportunity to speak to a classmate and explain a concept. You should choose a topic that you know something about, so that you don’t have to do too much research. It’s better if this is something your classmates won’t know – then you can teach it to them!

This doesn’t have to be an academic or scientific topic: you can speak about a place you visited on holiday, about the rules of a sport you play(ed), or about a style of fashion, but you should focus on helping the listener to understand the topic in a deeper way. This isn’t a presentation and there shouldn’t be a lot of lists of facts and names.

You only need to explain your chosen topic once. Please choose a suitable level depending on how much your classmates know of your chosen topic.
